What’s Changing

On September 30, 2009, BD discontinued making its glucose tablets. In its place, BD suggests Can-Am Care’s Dex4® Fast-Acting Glucose products as a comparable replacement for correcting low blood sugar episodes.

So, with this change in mind, here’s what you need to know to prepare and care for incidents of hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar:

A Simple Change: 4 grams per tablet

Dex4 Fast-Acting Glucose products are effective at correcting low blood sugar. However, there is an important difference you need to know about to ensure that people with diabetes are informed about the transition.
